October was a great month. We had some friends come
up from Portland, OR for a visit at the beginning of the
month. It was great! The kids have so much fun
together. We had a treasure hunt for the kids with clues
that took them to different clues hidden in the boat. The
last clue told them to put their floaties on and head up
on deck. There was a big treasure chest full of
necklaces, gold coins (chocolate), and paper money.
They had so much fun going through everything and
claiming their own booty. I think us adults had even
more fun putting it all together.

Later in the month we had the crew of
Strange Crew come over for dinner. It
was great to meet them and talk
boats. Scott finished the aft bench on
the boat which looks wonderful.

Then came the fun of Halloween. Wow, it really
gets to be fun when the kids start enjoying it. Ellie
dressed up as a mermaid and Zak as a pilot. We
had 4 days of Halloween parties with Zak's school
and Ellie's playgroup. The day before, we headed
to downtown Ballard for trick or treating at all the
businesses with Scott's brother and their kids. Then
on Halloween we had 8 boats that wanted the kids to
stop by. It was so much fun. The kids got spoiled.
They won't know what Halloween is really like. After
the trick or treating on the boats, we asked everyone
if they would like to come over for dessert and hot
spiced wine. What a wonderful evening. We were
able to get to know our neighbors better and quite a
few of them met each other for the first time.
