Cecil the Shilshole Dragon
Cecil is a friendly Dragon that
guards our marina. He sits out
on the breakwater and welcomes
us when we come in.

Allie is the protector of our dock.
She is owned by some
neighbors who set her out to
keep the otters away

Cormorant
The Cormorants spend most of the winter
close to the docks hunting for fish. We end
up startling each other when we walk by.
They make a huge splash and go under
water to hide. We never knew what it was
for the longest time.

American Wigeon
We have many varieties of ducks
in the marina. This is one we saw
last fall. We haven't seen any
recently.

This is the most common type of
duck around the marina. They
always come around when it's time
to nest and then usually we see
them again with their babies.

Beautiful Female Mallard
This beautiful Mallard came up on our
dock. She is much lighter in color than
most female mallards. We are hoping
she will bring her babies to visit in a
couple weeks.

Canadian Goose
Canadian Geese are always coming
around boat to boat saying "hi" and
hoping we will give them some food. We
have learned that it is unhealthy for them
to eat bread and we shouldn't do it. It's
hard not helping them when they look so
hungry, but we know they need to find
food on their own.

Sea Lion
When we go out sailing in our dinghy
we see these sea lions. They also
are pretty noisy and we can hear
them when we are trying to go to bed.

Great Blue Heron
Great Blue Herons are so beautiful and they
love hanging out on our docks. It seems they
always know the right time, either in the early
morning or late at night, to scare you
completely out of your pants. You will be
walking down the dock and they will take off
with this loud screech. We don't mind. It's
always pretty cool to see nature like this.
